Istanbul Nişantaşı University has been granted membership in the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), which operates under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals. Founded in 2012 by then-UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and world-renowned economist Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, SDSN aims to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement by bringing together universities, think tanks, and research centers.

This prestigious membership strengthens our university’s commitment to making research, education, and collaboration in the field of sustainable development more effective on a global scale. SDSN, together with its member institutions, is active in numerous key areas, including combating climate change, developing sustainable energy solutions, improving data analytics, and developing sustainable agriculture and land use policies. Furthermore, it aims to conduct research to increase the happiness and well-being of societies, develop sustainable solutions to global health problems, promote good governance practices, and contribute to the development of sustainable cities. Additionally, the network develops strategies for the conservation and sustainable management of tropical forests and aims to provide practical solutions on a global scale by grounding these efforts in scientific foundations.

Thanks to SDSN membership, Istanbul Nişantaşı University will gain access to opportunities to strengthen international collaboration, develop interdisciplinary projects, and offer innovative solutions. This membership will further advance our university’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals and will be a major step toward making us a global collaboration center in this field.
